Essential Low Back Program
The Essential Low Back Teacher Training provides professional level training for yoga teachers and yoga therapists to enhance their work with students and clients. Participants will develop the means to intelligently address the primary low back dysfunctions: hypo- and hyper-mobility, S.I. destabilization, pelvic misalignment, scoliosis, and lumbar-disc conditions. The intricate relationship between functional breathing and functional movement will be explored with scientific evidence to support the specific approach to sequencing and adaptation. This training focuses on functional anatomy of the pelvic girdle, stabilizing exercises that develop core support, and an evaluative process that facilitates teachers and therapists in learning how to organize yoga practices which ensure students; safety. The daily workshop format will include developmental and therapeutic practices, skill building through observation, co-teaching, and case studies to provide participants with an abundance of knowledge and skills that are readily applicable. The practicum requirement for this course involves the teaching of a 7-week series.
Drawing from Robin Rothenberg experience in developing and teaching in the NIH study Comparing Yoga, Exercise and a Self-Care Book in Chronic Low Back Pain, and using her book: The Essential Low Back Program, this training will provide the necessary tools to build a level of expertise and proficiency and is intended to support student current vocation as a yoga teacher or yoga therapist.
