Students will be introduced to several types of plumbing found on boats: fresh water, gray and black water, bilge water, fuel storage and supply, and exhaust. Students will learn common ways to create sealed plumbing connections and will practice assembling a pressurized freshwater system and installing and servicing different types of marine toilets (heads). Proper installation of below-the-waterline through-hull fittings will be discussed and practiced. Techniques and devices to prevent flooding of a boat from siphoning will be discussed and demonstrated. Rules and best practices regarding fuel and exhaust plumbing will be covered in detail.
