This 16-hour training course is designed to comply with the United States training course requirements for certification as "Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats - Refresher" in accordance with USCG NVIC 04-14, CH-1. The course covers the assessment guidelines for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC-Limited). This course uses the guidelines of NVIC 04-14 CH-1 Enclosure (2) to assess practical demonstrations of skill for (PSC).

Prerequisite courses and other requirements
Each student must, as a minimum, be able to speak and understand the English language and be at least 18years old. No physical examination is required for this course however each student must pass the prescribedphysical and medical examination in 46 CFR 10.215 to be endorsed as Proficiency in Survival Craft andRescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC)-Refresher.
There are no prerequisites required of candidates to enroll in this course, however only those mariners meetingthe requirements of 46 CFR 12.613(a) to qualify for a PSC endorsement will be eligible to obtain anendorsement as PSC.
Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSC) Refresher is a two-day course designed for mariners who previously held an endorsement of STCW PSC (A-VI/2-1) endorsement and have NOT completed one (1) year of approved sea service within the last five (5) years.
To add PSC to your credential, you must complete Basic Training or have a Basic Training endorsement on your MMC.
