Basic Training Refresher is intended to provide the student with refresher training in personal survival techniques (PST), fire prevention & firefighting (FF), elementary first aid (FA), and personal safety & social responsibility (PSSR) in accordance with the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Code, Section A-VI/1 and Tables A-VI/1-1 through A-VI/1-4, as amended and NVIC 8-14 (CH-1), Subj: Guidelines for Qualification for STCW Endorsements in Basic Training (formerly Basic Safety Training). A mariner who successfully completes this course will satisfy the continued competency requirements for: STCW Basic Training in STCW Section A-VI/1, 46 CFR 11.302(e) and 46 CFR 12.602(e); AND Approval should also include the applicable task numbers from the national assessment guidelines of Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular No. 8-14, CH 1 Subj: Guidelines for Qualification for STCW Endorsements in Basic Training (formerly Basic Safety Training) as detailed in the table onthe following page.
