The course deals with the responsibilities of a Master 100 GRT vessel. This is accomplished using in-person classroom conventional teaching and training methods, participative training techniques (such as task solving, both individually and in groups), exercises as well as the most common forms of teaching, e.g., lectures, audio-visual presentation, practical applications, and on-line-based delivery. Classroom: This 24-Hour training course provides instruction on subjects for officer endorsement required by 46 CFR 11.427, 46 CFR 11.428, 46 CFR 11.457 and 46 CFR Table 11.910-2 to increase tonnage limitations from OUPV endorsement to Master of self-propelled vessels less than 100 GRT or Mate of self-propelled vessels less than 200 GRT upon Great Lakes, Inland/River and Near Coastal waters endorsement.
This course is open to students that must, as a minimum, be able to speak and understand the English language and be at least 16 years old. No physical examination is required. To receive the USCG credential portion they must meet the requirements as outlined on the National Maritime Center website
