A trainee successfully completing this course will be able to react in a correct manner during emergency situations, take measures appropriate to own survival and to the survival of others, and use survival equipment correctly. Trainee will also acquire knowledge which in some instances will enable trainee to identify and correct defects and thereby prevent emergencies; Proper donning of a United States Coast Guard (USCG)-approved lifejacket and immersion suit; Properly jumping into the water from a height while wearing a USCG-approved lifejacket; Properly jumping into the water from a height while wearing a USCG-approved immersion suit; Swimming while wearing a USCG-approved lifejacket and righting an inverted USCG-approved liferaft; Keeping afloat in water without the aid of a lifejacket or an immersion suit; and jumping into the life raft from a height while wearing a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) and boarding a life raft without assistance.
