A mariner who successfully completes this 4-hour course within 1 year of application will satisfy the professional examination requirements to add an Auxiliary Sail endorsement to any national officer endorsement as Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) or Mate or Master GRT.

For the Auxiliary Sail course in ONLINE COURSE format:After registering for the online course, you will receive access to our online portal within 3-5 business days via email. You have 4 Weeks to complete the online course, starting on the date that Maritime Institute Student Services emails you the link to our online portal with your log-in details. THERE ARE NO EXTENSIONS past this 4-week time frame. The materials for Auxiliary Sail Online Course are fully online; there are no printed course books nor handouts.
Final exams for ONLINE COURSES must be proctored IN-PERSON. When you are finished with the online Auxiliary Sail course you will schedule with us to take your proctored USCG-Approved final exam at one of our approved locations. Our online course final exam testing locations are currently only in: Alameda and San Diego, CA; Norfolk, VA; Honolulu, HI; and Everett, WA. Final exams are scheduled by appointment only, based on our exam proctor availability.
