This course should take approximately 12 months for full time students, or 16 months for part time students. Our cosmetology course is set up to train students in consultations, cutting, styling, and chemical processing of the hair, as well as provide basic instructions in manicuring and esthetics. Class training will include a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and lab work of live models and manikins. Both online theory and in class training will include, but are not limited to history of cosmetology, hair care, skin care, natural nail care, nail structure and diseases and disorders, business skills, anatomy and physiology, professionalism, skin diseases and disorders, property of the hair and scalp, basics of chemistry, basics of electricity, shampooing and conditioning, haircutting, hairstyling, hair coloring and lightening, chemical texturizing, wigs and hair additions, braiding and extensions, cutting and trimming of facial and ear and brow hair, safety, disinfection and sanitizing, self and client protection, health and safety laws, communicable diseases, purposes of skin care and cosmetic preparations, and proper use and storage of chemicals and implements and electrical appliances.
