Youth Culinary Apprenticeship Program ETPL
The apprentice shall receive on the job instruction and experience as is necessary to become a qualified journey-level worker versed in the theory and practice of the occupation covered by these Standards. Employers/training agents shall only use registered apprentices to perform the work processes as stated in this section. Journey-level pay is $16.84 per hour.

Prerequisite courses and other requirements

Minimum qualifications must be clearly stated and applied in a nondiscriminatory manner [WAC 296-05-015(17)]. Shall be at least 16 years of age. Applicants must provide evidence of minimum age. Applicant shall be a current CTE ProStart student, or a High School student enrolled in a Culinary Arts program within the approved Geographic Area. Applicant shall be capable of performing the requirements of the occupation with or without reasonable accommodations. Applicant must possess a current food handler's card and provide a 300 Word Essay on 'Why do I want a career in Culinary Arts?'
