The Instructional Design (Fundamentals) Certificate prepares adult educators in professional or corporate training setting to design and deliver instruction intended both for face-to-face and online environments. Students will begin the certificate focusing on the unique learning needs of working adults. They will learn to address these needs through instructional design methods and teaching strategies intended to provide their learners with real-world, practical skills. The certificate concludes with an overview of current technologies that can be used to support distance education. The certificate is comprised of 4 courses: Principles and Foundations of Adult Education; Instructional Design; Teaching Strategies; and Instructional Technology and Distance Education. The certificate also includes a comprehensive career consultancy and outplacement service and support that will allow for each participant to develop a strategic plan to help find employment and leverage the training. The career counseling is highly relevant based on input from human resources and hiring managers throughout the Puget Sound area. The outplacement support is comprised of a three day workshop to assist participants in developing: (1) Career Search Mastery: developing a strategic plan to help find jobs at your dream company, whether or not theyre advertised; and to develop a list of target companies that are aligned with your values, short & long-term career plans; (2) Interviewing Mastery: learning how to leverage proven psychology to build rapport and make positive first impression with any interviewer; and leverage expertise questions to demonstrate immediate credibility and overcome skeptics; (3)Resume Mastery: position you as the best candidate by developing a unique differentiating value proposition; and restructure resume bullets that tell a story and help sell your qualifications.
