The Administrative Medical Specialist with Medical Billing and Coding with Medical Terminology is a nationally-recognized online program that will prepare you for the rewarding field of healthcare. Through this program, you will gain a wide range of medical office management skills that healthcare professionals need for the efficient operation of their medical practices or other ambulatory care settings. You will learn to function as an important member of the healthcare team by providing key skills such as patient registration and scheduling, medical records management, diagnostic and procedural coding (including ICD-10-CM), insurance claim filing, and daily financial practices. In Medical Terminology, you will learn important terminology and study the disorders and medical procedures common to each body system. Upon completion of this program, you will be ready to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) and the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) national certification exams offered by National Health career Association (NHA) and will receive the study guide materials, access to practice exams, and registration fees for both. You will also be prepared to sit for a national medical coding certification exam, such as the Certified Professional Coder (CPC), offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). After successful completion of Administrative Medical Specialist, you will be able to function as an important member of the healthcare team in the area of office administration. You will also learn how to do the following:Communicate in the healthcare industry, including therapeutic and multicultural communicationReduce occupational hazards in the workplace, including blood-borne pathogens.Safeguard patient confidentiality in the computerized medical office, discover the importance of the medical record, and learn the ambulatory use of the electronic medical record (EMR) Screen and take appropriate messages and fax confidential information Use different types of patient scheduling systems, Recognize the contents of the medical record, including SOAP notes, consultations, discharge summaries and operative reports and distinguish what makes them accurate and complete.
