75-Hour Home Care Aide Training

Higher Living Healthcare Training School ETPL
The 75-Hour Home Care Aide (HCA) Training Program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) for individuals seeking Home Care Aide certification. This program prepares students to deliver safe, person-centered care to clients in home and community-based settings. The curriculum follows all content and hour requirements outlined in WAC 388-112A and includes: Orientation Training (2 hours). Safety Training (3 hours). Core Basic Training (70 hours), consisting of both classroom instruction and skills demonstration/practice. Instruction covers essential caregiving topics such as infection control, body mechanics, communication skills, supporting activities of daily living, understanding client rights, mandatory reporting, dementia and cognitive support principles, chronic conditions, and professionalism in the caregiving role. Students learn and practice hands-on skills including personal care, mobility assistance, vital signs, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe assistance techniques. Training is delivered through structured lessons, interactive activities, video demonstrations, guided practice, and instructor-led assessments. Students must demonstrate competency in required skills and complete all coursework, quizzes, and exams in order to successfully finish the program. Upon completion, graduates meet the state’s training requirement to apply for the Home Care Aide Certification and become eligible for the Prometric Home Care Aide Knowledge and Skills Exam. The program ensures that learners are prepared to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and safe care to clients while meeting Washington State’s professional standards for long-term care workers.

Data is unavailable for one of several reasons: In some cases, the institution has not provided the Workforce Board with data to independently evaluate program performance. We encourage all schools to provide this data on an annual basis. In other cases, the program joined Career Bridge recently and student data has not been reported yet. In other cases, the program is too small or too new to provide reliable results.
