Emergency Medical Technician IV Endorsement

Providence Health Training
The IV therapy endorsement will allow EMT's to provide specific, limited life-saving skills to rural areas that are unable to develop or maintain full ALS level service. The EMT-IV Therapy Special Skill Curriculum represents the minimum required information to be presented within a course leading to endorsement for EMT-IV Therapy. People who successfully complete the training are allowed to use these skills when the endorsement is added to the EMT's credential and upon approval of the County Medical Program Director (MPD). Refer to local department and MPD approved protocol regarding use of IV therapy skill. This course is 72 clock hours total which consists of 8 hours of at home pre-work, 40 hours of classroom/lab training and one, 12-hour shifts in the hospital setting and one, 12- hour shift where they will ride-along with an ambulance crew. These shifts will be arranged by Providence and must be completed as assigned.
