Class B Curriculum - 80 Hour Requirement (GVW 26,000 lbs. or less)The Class B program meets the minimum requirements established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Students are taught the skills necessary to safely operate a Commercial Vehicle equipped with a manual transmission and a full-size trailer. Utilizing a balance of classroom instruction and hands-on, behind the wheel training and observation, students will be prepared to pass both the written CDL exams and skills tests.
Week 1 and 2The first two weeks complete a full review of the Washington State Commercial Driver’s License manual that includes: reading with discussion and explanation of the state laws and rules for commercial drivers. The class will cover information needed to pass the Washington State written exam, Air Brake exam and general Class B vehicle information.
Each of the applicable endorsements are reviewed, discussed, and pre-tested to prepare students for applicable exams.
Week 3 and 4Students are instructed with Washington State Department of Licensing driving standards and are prepared to take the skills test. Additional practice and techniques include backing maneuvers of 45° angle, 90° angle, loading docks and in-town driving.
This course instructs the students on how to be a safe commercial driver. Each student will receive hours of training.
