The Inland Northwest Chapter Associated General Contractors Carpenters AC course is a four-year program comprised of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 640 hours of related supplemental instruction. The program provides apprentices with the skills necessary to construct and maintain complex structures. Apprentices learn essential carpentry skills like blueprint reading, framing, concrete forming, and scaffolding with a strong emphasis on safety. The program provides hands-on experience working with a variety of materials, including wood, steel, and concrete, while adhering to industry standards and project specification. Please note, this program takes four years to complete. Apprentices begin with “AGC Carpenter Year 1-1” unless they receive advanced standing from the program, allowing them to begin at a higher level. Apprentices are also college students and recieve a certificate for completing 30 college credits from Spokane Community College. This is an apprenticeship program which means you earn while you learn. This is a structured training program combining paid on the job learning with related classroom instruction. This allows apprentices to gain practical skills while earning a living wage with healthcare, retirement, and other benefits preparing them to become journey level workers. A journey level worker is a master in their trade, able to perform all required tasks to industry standards. Carpenter Apprentices will complete 160 hours per year of related supplemental instruction training in everything from blueprint reading to building layout to finish work. Carpenter Apprentices must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training to achieve Journeyman status.
