Advanced Hybrid Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certificate program prepares students to provide advanced emergency medical care and transportation to critically ill and injured patients who access the emergency medical system. This program of study is designed to take students from Basic Life Support to Advanced Life Support skills and advanced patient assessment. Students will develop personally and professionally to handle high stress emergency situations and provide excellent care to the community. Upon successful completion of the AEMT course, you will be prepared to function as a team member in a comprehensive EMS system and be able to perform interventions with advanced equipment found on an ALS ambulance. This course encompasses 120 hours of hybrid learning with a 20-25 hour in-person skills component.

Prerequisite courses and other requirements

18 years of age or older. Hold current National Certification at EMT level or a current State EMT Certification (verified). Verification from the Program Director that you hold Basic Life Support CPR certification (AHA or equivalent) olds a High School Diploma or GED. The following immunizations: Hepatitis B (vaccine or waiver); Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) vaccine; TDap (vaccine or positive titer); Flu Shot (current year); Tuberculosis (negative TB test; Covid (proof of two rounds required). Clean criminal background (verify with the EMS Bureau). Drug Screening and current Medical Insurance for clinicals. The clinical site may allow waivers for certain immunizations (COVID for example). Clinical sites allow student to apply skills they learn during lab in real world situations. IMA ensures that during your skill labs you will be training with experienced providers.
