Nonprofit Manager + Professional Grant Writing

Lower Columbia College ETPL
The Nonprofit Manager course will look at the most important aspect of nonprofits--your mission and how to define that--which will help should you want to start a nonprofit. You will also study governance and leadership issues, looking at the laws that regulate nonprofits and codes of conduct. From there, you will be looking at how best to manage your volunteer program as you continue to learn how to run a nonprofit. You will learn how to handle nonprofit finances and, critically, how to create a budget. This course will also teach you how to market and raise funds through fundraising and earned income. Lastly, you will understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion and how to achieve this within your organization. In the Professional Grant Writing course, you will become proficient in the proposal and case statement formats used by foundations and government grantmaking agencies. Throughout this course, you will learn about the certification process for grant professionals and write different elements of a complete grant application, culminating in a case statement for your capstone assignment with expert instructor feedback on each element. From grant funding trends to matching your course project to the right funding sources, you will be confident in differentiating yourself from a grant writer to a grant professional!
