Cornerstone Healthcare Training ETPL
HCA Learning Plan 6 is designed for caregivers who have already completed both Orientation Safety and Population Specific training, such as (but not limited to) Mental Health, Dementia, or Nurse Delegation, and need to complete the remaining requirements for Home Care Aide (HCA) certification in Washington State. This is the most streamlined self-paced option and is ideal for caregivers who want to complete their remaining training fully online. This learning plan includes: Core Basic training Online skills lab with video demonstrations and assignments Credit for approved population-specific training Core Basic review and final exam Students will be required to submit their DSHS-approved Orientation and Safety and Population Specific certificate(s) in order to complete this program. Upon completion, students will receive a DSHS 75 hour Home Care Aide (HCA) certificate.

Prerequisite courses and other requirements

Cornerstone Healthcare Training requires all applicants to complete a pre-enrollment basic skills and comprehension assessment prior to enrollment, in compliance with WAC 490-105-140. The assessment consists of a standardized set of required questions designed to evaluate measurable indicators aligned with both training success and employment prerequisites for the caregiving role. These include: Understanding of course expectations and ability to complete coursework and assignments Ability to engage with instructional materials and follow directions Access to and ability to use required technology Communication and comprehension ability, with or without support such as translation tools Physical and functional readiness to perform basic caregiving tasks Personal attributes relevant to caregiving, such as patience, flexibility, and adaptability Students must score 80 percent or higher to be admitted into the program. (*assessment uploaded in comments section) Students are also required to submit a copy of their WA DSHS-approved Orientation and Safety and Population Specific certificates to complete the program.
