Overview: The Passenger and Bus Endorsement Curriculum at Sunnyside CDL School, LLC, is a specialized training program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required for obtaining a passenger and school bus endorsement. This program adheres to the federal curriculum requirements outlined in C.F.R. Appendix C and D to Part 380 and includes a comprehensive mix of classroom/theory instruction and hands-on proficiency development. Program Duration. Total Duration: 30 Hours. Classroom/Theory Instruction: 20 Hours. Proficiency Development: 10 Hours. Eligibility Criteria: Must be a resident of the state. Completion of a course approved by the director or certification by an employer for the necessary skills and training. Possession of a commercial learner's permit if without a valid commercial driver's license. Successful passing of a knowledge and skills examination as per federal and state regulations. Training Curriculum: Classroom/Theory Instruction (20 hours) Unit C1.1 - C1.18 & D1.1 - D1.11: Covers a range of topics including post-crash and other emergency procedures, vehicle orientation, pre-trip, enroute, and post-trip inspection, fueling, idling, baggage and cargo management, passenger safety briefing, passenger management, ADA compliance, hours of service requirements, safety belt safety, distracted driving, railroad-highway grade crossings, weigh stations, security and crime, roadside inspections, penalties and fines, danger zones and use of mirrors, loading and unloading procedures, special safety considerations, route and stop reviews, etc. Additional Training: 30-minute video on Truckers Against Trafficking. Instructor-Student Ratio: 10 to 1 in a classroom setting. Behind the Wheel - Range and Public Road (10 hours) Unit C2.1 - C2.6 & D2.1 - D2.6:Practical application of classroom learning, focusing on vehicle orientation, inspection procedures, baggage and cargo management, passenger safety briefing, passenger management, navigating railroad-highway grade crossings, danger zone awareness, emergency exit and evacuation procedures, special safety considerations, pre-and post-trip inspections. Training Environment: Conducted in a passenger vehicle/school bus of the same vehicle group the applicant intends to drive. Instructor-Student Ratio: 3 to 1, with non-driving hours counting towards lab/observation time. Final Assessment. Students will be assessed for their proficiency in both theory and practical aspects of passenger and school bus operations. Successful completion of the program qualifies them for the passenger and school bus endorsement. Career Outcome: Graduates will be equipped to operate passenger-carrying CMVs, including buses and motor coaches, as well as school buses, in compliance with federal and state regulations. They will be qualified for roles in public transportation, school transportation services, and private charter services. Certification: Upon successful completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Sunnyside CDL School, LLC. Assistance in scheduling the skills test and obtaining endorsements from the Department of Licensing.
