The Building Official is the lead person when it comes to building, plumbing, and mechanical permits. The Building Official is the lead person responsible for enforcing the state adopted building codes. This includes providing interpretations, setting policies, updating codes, handling questions or complaints from the public, and working with departments ensuring projects meet all requirements prior to occupancy.This course considers the building officials role as a leader in the department, jurisdiction, community, and building safety profession. Types of leadership, personal attributes, diversity, communications, team-building, collaboration and education are examined.
