ANEW has operated the Apprenticeship Resource Center (ARC) since 1994. ARC provides comprehensive barrier reduction for individuals interested in obtaining a family wage career in the construction industry. Clients are assessed for barriers to employment and are provided employment navigation, application and interviewing assistance, financial support for barrier reduction, and retention services through pre-apprenticeship through their second year of apprenticeship. Examples of support and retention services include assistance with barriers such as relicensing, required tools, union dues, and acquisition of a GED to financial assistance with everyday needs like childcare, transportation, and stable housing.
