Automotive Technology

Bates Technical College ETPL
In an active campus auto service facility, students practice all aspects of the profession, from balancing tires to diagnosing engine problems. Using advanced computerized analyzers, students learn diagnostic techniques and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, service fuel injection systems, and much more. Bates' automotive program is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) for both secondary and postsecondary levels. Bates' Automotive Mechanic program instructors are Evaluation Team Leaders for NATEF and evaluate other programs in the Puget Sound area for NATEF membership eligibility. Instruction is configured according to Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification requirements, and students are encouraged to take one or more ASE certification tests while completing the program.
