Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: study of state laws, CDL manual study, endorsement instruction, written exam prep, pre-trip inspection prep, hooking and unhooking trailers, air brakes, adjusting brakes, chaining up, strapping loads, backing maneuvers, student drive time. Student drives are offered at a 2:1 and 3:1 student to teacher ratio depending on equipment scheduled for the day. All courses and testing are in English, but a bilingual instructor is available for translation and clarification. Students who have received instruction at another school, and would like to further their education by obtaining additional endorsements at Columbia Basin Truck Driving School, may sign up for additional classroom instruction. Additional endorsements we provide are: Doubles/Triples (Minimum of one hour of instruction time); Tankers (Minimum of one hour of instruction time); Hazardous Materials (Optional) Additional 16-hour course. Doubles/Triples and Tanker endorsements are evaluated on an hourly instructional basis. This is offered at a minimum of one hour. Hazardous Materials is a 16-hour long training course and requires a separate fingerprinting fee paid to the Transportation Security Administration.
