Medical Assistant

Health Care Apprenticeship Consortium ETPL

A certified Medical Assistant is a licensed staff person able to perform clinic, lab, and hospital tasks consistent with their license. Apprentices learn while they earn working full time while gaining skills taught by experienced teachers, coaches, and mentors. Medical Assistant apprentices are supervised by their provider and work with other Medical Assistants who are trained as mentors. Classrooms and Lab are hybrid virtual real-time classrooms and in-person labs available throughout Washington and adjoining communities

Prerequisite courses and other requirements

Minimum qualifications must be clearly stated and applied in a nondiscriminatory manner [WAC 296-05-015(17)]. At least 18 years old. High School Diploma or equivalent or a two-year Associates' degree. Must be able to perform the duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. All applicants must complete college administered placement assessment and have a minimum placement result into, or college course completion of, English and Math courses at or above the following course levels or equivalent: college math 087/091 ['Foundations of Algebra' or 'Descriptive Statistics'] and English 098 ['Integrated Reading' and 'Writing II']
