Coffee is more than a drink. It is an integral part of the worlds most highly-traded global commodity: food. In fact, coffee is the worlds most traded food. This is a complex industry with a long and storied history in Seattle. This certificate includes learnings in all five areas of coffee education that the Specialty Coffee Association deems necessary to become a coffee professional: barista skills, coffee roasting, management skills, cupping, and coffee buying. Furthermore, the program delves into the history, societal and cultural impacts, and economics of the global coffee industry. Learners completing this selection of coursework will be ready to own, manage, and/or work in the global professional coffee industry depending on their career pathway.
