The Electrical Construction Associate of Applied Science program provides a robust foundation in electrical theory, safety and the practical skills you need for a successful career in the electrical industry. Our faculty emphasizes the importance of safety, adherence to industry standards, and hands-on experiences with electrical installations and maintenance. Throughout your nine quarters, you’ll learn a broad spectrum of subjects including residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, advanced motor controls, blueprint reading, and new electrical technologies like photovoltaic designs, energy management systems, green wiring practices, and solar, wind, and low voltage electrical systems. Graduates are eligible to earn up to 4,000 hours from the Department of Labor & Industries towards their EL01 electrical license.
Full-time day and swing shift programs are available for students seeking to earn a degree or certificate in electrical construction for jobs in commercial and residential construction, public utility agencies, and industrial construction and maintenance. The program also provides extended learning opportunities for persons previously or currently employed in these and related occupations.

Students interested in receiving an ELO1 license should consult with career advisers to ensure enrollment in the appropriate program.
All applicants will be required to interview with the Electrical Construction (ELCON) panel. Interviews will be conducted at the end of the Summer and Winter Quarters. The interview will consist of seven questions, similar to those asked in Electrician Apprenticeship interviews. Each interviewee will be scored independently by the panel members based on a standardized rubric, ensuring a fair and impartial evaluation process. Selections will be based on these compiled scores, with offers to enroll extended to the top scorers. The number of offers will vary depending on the available places in the program. All applicants must bring a resume to the interview. Applicants will be required to take an entry-level English and math test, modeled after the apprenticeship test. High school students must bring their high school transcripts and be accompanied by a guardian during the interview.
