Esthetics Licensing Program

Washington Spa Academy
The WSA Esthetic Licensing Program contains 780 hours and provides both hands-on and technical training that will enable the student - upon licensing - to function as a competent entry-level licensed esthetician. This course curriculum is approved by the Department of Licensing, Board of Cosmetology and exceeds the 750 hours required by Washington State. It is organized and contains the pertinent information to prepare you for the Washington State Examination for Licensing as an Esthetician, with practical working knowledge to develop you as a skincare professional. For purposes of calculating program times for test preparing purposes, an "Instructional Hour" (per WAC 246-830-430) Department of Licensing equals 60 minutes.

Prerequisite courses and other requirements

At Washington Spa Academy, we believe in helping potential students make informed decisions about their career paths. To support this, we offer a complimentary three-hour introductory class in Swedish Massage, Reflexology, or Esthetics.

This hands-on experience introduces prospective students to the basics of either Swedish massage or skincare, including the five foundational strokes or essential skincare techniques. The class also provides an opportunity to learn more about our programs and ask questions about licensing, curriculum, and career outcomes.

Admission Requirements Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for enrollment:

Massage Program: Must be at least 17.5 years old

Esthetics Program: Must be at least 16.5 years old

Must possess a recognized equivalent of a high school diploma Accepted forms of high school equivalency include:

1. A high school diploma or GED, preferably from an English-speaking country. If the diploma is from a non-English-speaking country, the school will assess the applicant’s English proficiency to ensure they are capable of completing the program.

2. A state-issued certificate awarded after passing a state-authorized examination considered equivalent to a high school diploma. 3. An official academic transcript verifying the successful completion of at least 60 semester credit hours at an accredited institution of higher education.

4. For homeschooled students, a homeschool completion credential, transcript, or equivalent signed by a parent or guardian that documents completed secondary-level coursework and overall graduation from a homeschool program.

Enrollment Process Applicants will be notified of their acceptance once all required documentation and the registration fee have been received and reviewed.

Upon acceptance, students must complete and sign an Enrollment Agreement before starting classes. Classroom space is limited, and enrollment is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We conduct informational appointments, registration, and enrollment year-round, and students may apply for upcoming classes at any time.
