he Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Promotion & Education is an established career-oriented cohort program. Our graduates are prepared to develop effective health promotion and wellness programs for individuals, communities, and organizations. Our mission is to promote wellness and health literacy, improve health equity, and prevent injuries, infectious, and chronic diseases. The degree is developed for individuals with an interest in “helping professions.” It uses multiple pedagogy and theories from health sciences, marketing, business, education, and psychology, combined with social justice principles to promote behavior change through policy, advocacy, and information dissemination. The goals are to keep the disease from developing, promote early detection of disease, manage chronic disease, remove systemic barriers, and build systemic support to increase wellness in all areas for all people. The 180-degree program features 45 credits of health and wellness, business, or prerequisites, 45 credits of co-requisites, and 90 credits of an equity-focused - professionally relevant curriculum that helps students achieve their goals.
