Spanish
Are you interested in learning the language spoken by 50 million people in the United States, the fastest-growing minority, and by over 330 million people in 20 countries? Spanish is the fourth most spoken language in the world, and it is spoken in Spain, Central America, South America, and parts of the Caribbean, the United States, and the Philippines, to name a few. Our faculty come from a variety of Spanish-speaking countries, including Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Spain, all of whom are native speakers of Spanish, and who bring first-hand cultural knowledge and experiences that enhance our program and the learning experiences for our students. We also have stellar faculty for whom Spanish is their second language, and who are able to teach students from that perspective. The Spanish Program at WSU provides students with a proficiency-oriented curriculum where they are encouraged to use Spanish from day one. We have a variety of course offerings that feature culture, film, literature, and various professions, such as medical, business, veterinary medicine, education, law enforcement, and translation/interpretation services.
