The Olympic College Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program prepares graduates to provide safe direct patient care as a Bachelor-prepared Registered Nurse (RN). The BSN Program is comprised of two pathways. The Veterans and Licensed Practical Nurse to BSN (VL-BSN) Pathway provides for upward mobility and professional growth for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) as well as military medics. The Nursing (RN-BSN) Pathway provides working RNs with advanced skills of leadership and population health, offering flexibility with one, two, or three-year plans to complete the degree.

Prerequisite courses and other requirements

These courses must be completed by Mar. 31 to be eligible to apply to the VL-BSN program. Prerequisites (1-6) must be completed with a minimum grade of 2.0 in each course:

  1. ENGL& 101 - English Composition 1
  2. PSYC& 100 – General Psychology (OR PSYC 102 – Psychology of Adjustment)
  3. CHEM& 121- Introduction to Chemistry – (OR CHEM& 141/151 AND 142/152)
  4. Note: CHEM& 141/151 and 142/152 cannot be substituted if a student has not been successful in CHEM& 121 within three attempts)
  5. BIOL& 241- Anatomy & Physiology 1
  6. BIOL& 242 - Anatomy & Physiology 2
  7. BIOL& 260 – Microbiology

The following courses are not required to apply but are requirements for graduation. Factor points are awarded for successful completion of courses with a 2.0 grade or higher by the Mar. 31 application deadline:

  • NUTR& 101 or NURSE 118. Required to be completed by second quarter in program. Factor points awarded if completed by the Mar. 31 application deadline.
  • MATH& 146 or BUS 215. Required to be completed by sixth quarter in program. Factor points awarded if completed by the Mar. 31 application deadline.
  • MATH& 107 or MATH& 141. Required to be completed by eighth quarter in program. Factor points awarded if completed by the Mar. 31 application deadline.

Optional support course: The following support course is optional, but factor points are awarded for successful completion with a 2.0 grade or higher by the Mar. 31 application deadline:

  1. ENGL& 102 – English Composition II
