The objective is to comprehensively prepare participants for a career as Home Care Aides; our intensive 2-week (75 hours total) program is designed to equip them with the essential knowledge and practical skills necessary to deliver high-quality care to diverse client populations. By the end of the program: Students will have completed 63 hours of theory-based instruction covering critical topics such as Personal Care Skills, AIDS Education, Resident Rights and Independence, Communication, Infection Control, Safety, and Emergency Procedures, alongside an understanding of the psychosocial elements of care involving mental health, dementia, and the needs of cognitively impaired patients. Participants will also be versed in the ethical and legal aspects of home care, ensuring a strong foundation in professional conduct and adherence to relevant healthcare regulations. The curriculum will be complemented by 12 hours of lab work where students will engage in Skills Demonstrations to translate theoretical knowledge into practical abilities, with a focus on hands-on care techniques, safe patient handling, and effective response to emergency situations. Upon completion, students will demonstrate proficiency in all subject areas as measured by written exams and skills assessments, preparing them for immediate entry into the home care workforce. Graduates will be expected to achieve a passing score on the final examination that demonstrates their competency in both the knowledge and application of the skills required to meet the needs of clients with compassion, respect, and efficiency. Through this program, we aim to prepare compassionate caregivers who can foster resident independence and uphold resident rights, contributing to an increase in patient satisfaction in the communities they serve. This program delivers the breadth of the curriculum, the balance between theory and practical training, and articulates clear educational outcomes along with the anticipated impact on future clients.
