Advanced Project Management

City University of Seattle
Designed for participants who have an extensive background in project management, either informally or formally, through on the job experience or prior coursework. For these individuals this program is the perfect way to formalize a persons knowledge and add to it a contemporary certificate. The certificate will utilize a real team project to manage a project's life cycle. Emphasis is placed on activity networks, managing resources, and creating control mechanisms that minimize risk. Project leadership is explored in the context of building effective project teams and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Students will learn and apply basic project management concepts including time and resource constraints, planning, scheduling, work breakdown structure, Gantt Charts, network diagrams, and project control. The certificate also includes a comprehensive career consultancy and outplacement service and support that will allow for each participant to develop a strategic plan to help find employment and leverage the training. The career counseling is highly relevant based on input from human resources and hiring managers throughout the Puget Sound area. The outplacement support is comprised of a three day workshop to assist participants in developing: (1) Career Search Mastery: developing a strategic plan to help find jobs at your dream company, whether or not theyre advertised; and to develop a list of target companies that are aligned with your values, short & long-term career plans; (2) Interviewing Mastery: learning how to leverage proven psychology to build rapport and make positive first impression with any interviewer; and leverage expertise questions to demonstrate immediate credibility and overcome skeptics; (3)Resume Mastery: position you as the best candidate by developing a unique differentiating value proposition; and restructure resume bullets that tell a story and help sell your qualifications.
