Dental Assisting
The Dental Assisting Program at Elite Dental Assisting Academy is a comprehensive 13-week course designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as professional dental assistants. The program consists of 203 clock hours of classroom lecture and hands-on laboratory instruction, combined with a required 100-hour supervised externship in a practicing dental office. Instruction begins with the foundations of dentistry, including dental anatomy, terminology, infection control, radiography, and chairside procedures. Students progressively build their skills through laboratory sessions using dental mannequins, radiographic equipment, and full dental operatory setups that simulate real-world practice. Advanced modules include pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, anesthesia techniques, and medical emergencies, including CPR certification. The curriculum also emphasizes professional development, with training in dental office management, resume preparation, HIPAA, OSHA, and HIV/AIDS compliance. Students graduate with multiple certifications and the confidence to transition seamlessly into dental practices. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive: Dental Assisting Certificate of Completion. OSHA, HIPAA, and HIV/AIDS Certifications. CPR/BLS Certification. Oregon Health Authority Radiation readiness for the DANB test (required for taking dental X-rays in Oregon). Graduates are fully prepared to assist dentists in general and specialty practices, perform chairside procedures, manage infection control, take radiographs, provide patient education, and carry out the wide range of duties expected of today's dental assistants.
