A degree in sport management provides students with essential theoretical and empirical knowledge, professional skills, learning experiences, and academic support needed to succeed in this professional field. Faculty share their knowledge in management, marketing, communication, finance, law and other fields, and unpack for students how they apply to sport. Coursework in business administration and communication enriches students’ knowledge and experience. The curriculum includes 180 hours of practicum experience, and a final internship places students in the field to prepare them for careers within the sport and recreation industry. This degree prepares students to be leaders in a dynamic and rapidly changing industry. Graduates pursue careers in professional sport, intercollegiate athletics, campus and community recreation, private organizations and facilities, and other areas still. Professional placements include positions in management, marketing, fundraising, sales, communication, equipment and operations management, recreation programs, and other areas still.
