ANEW's construction pre-apprenticeship program is 280 hours of training that has been recognized by the Washington State Apprenticeship Training Council. Program Summary: The Trades Rotation Program (TRP) is a pre-apprenticeship that assists women in gaining the skills to successfully enter an apprenticeship in construction or transportation fields. Our target audiences include people working in low-wage industries, formerly incarcerated, women, people of color, and veterans. It is designed as a part-time program so participants can find or keep employment while in class, which helps in making a transition from a low-wage industry to a new career path; learning how to manage time and resources; and affording personal expenses that otherwise make a full-time program prohibitive. Core training topics include construction terminology, basic hand and power tool use, industrial safety, trades fitness and math. Students also gain OSHA 10, forklift operation and road flagging certifications.
