Natural Resources Technology - Forestry Technician
This degree is built upon the technical courses required for job preparation, but also includes a college-level general education component. This is consistent with the dual purpose of transfer and preparation for direct employment. Employers of natural resource technicians and professionals require their employees to be skilled in math, English, science and technology. This program prepares graduates for entry level employment by teaching knowledge and skills in algebra, statistics, technical writing, computers, fisheries, forestry, wildlife management, chemistry, geology, and chemical and biological field and laboratory methods. The program utilizes an "applied approach" where natural resources concepts and principles (knowledge) are integrated into field and laboratory applications (technical skills). Effective communication skills, teamwork and leadership are also emphasized in this interdisciplinary approach to learning.
