Machining - Aircraft Oriented (Apprenticeship)

Everett Community College
Curriculum meets standards established by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries Apprenticeship Division. The curriculum for this course is part of a fully replicated effort that is training with a singular statewide curriculum for all schools collaborating in the AJAC Machining Apprenticeship program. This program of study combines the mandatory on-job hours of apprenticeship with Related Supplemental Instruction or RSI represented in the courses that will be taught with Everett CC faculty for the theory based coursework. This package of courses and on-site practical training provides the machining apprentice with comprehensive skills training for qualification as a journey level certified machinist or for non-journey level certification as a CNC Operator. The full journey level machining program consists of 12 classes in addition to the on-the-job-training that takes place at the site of employment. The CNC Operator certification is achieved by successfully completing the first six classes of the full journey level machining program. Topics covered include: introduction to manufacturing basics, professional technical algebra, geometry and trigonometry, blueprint reading, CNC operating, geometric dimensioning & tolerances, materials and processes, inspection, and tool and cutter grind. Apprentices can join in any quarter, but must complete the first 6 courses (in any order) before progressing to the next 6 which are based on previous knowledge from the first 6.
