Master of Business Administration
This MBA program provides a cutting-edge framework of the emerging skills, knowledge and tools demanded of todays business enterprises. The program was developed in partnership with business leaders from key industries who provided valuable input regarding what graduate business professionals need to cultivate and master within themselves and an organization. Courses provide focus on emerging business challenges such as utilizing self-cultivation for management, design thinking for innovation, law and governing the modern business, leadership, influence, currency of trust, digital marketing and analytics, financial control and reporting, data-driven decision making, ethics and social impact, and entrepreneurship and the art of creative thinking. The emphasis areas are available in the following specified areas. Change Leadership: Developing a competitive advantage in today's business climate requires leaders who adapt quickly and effectively to internal and external market influences. An MBA combined with an emphasis in Change Leadership is specifically designed to help students become an effective change agent within an organization. Data Analytics: The MBA emphasis in Data Analytics follows a commonly accepted data analytics lifecycle beginning by showing students how to frame business problems, establish analysis plans, and acquire and process data sets. Students will learn how to organize data projects to meet organizational and/or stakeholder needs by effectively utilizing resources and expertise. Students will also learn how to build, deploy and report on appropriate data models to track their performance over the long-term thereby ensuring ongoing stake holder satisfaction. Entrepreneurship: This emphasis prepares students for the dynamic world of entrepreneurship or to compete in a rapidly changing marketplace of employers looking for practical innovators. Finance: This emphasis will provide students the knowledge and skills to thrive in a highly competitive industry. The courses are designed to equip students with expertise and real-world skills in financial analysis including quantitative methods, economics, financial reporting, corporate finance, equity investments, derivatives, ethics and professional standards, and portfolio management. Global Management: The MBA with an emphasis in global management is designed to provide students with an in-depth analysis of the various types of management and leadership so that they can become a more well-rounded manager, one who is better equipped to excel and meet the many different kinds of challenges encountered in today's ever-changing global marketplace. Human Resource Management: The MBA with an emphasis in HR management will provide students with a broad and comprehensive knowledge base of the HR subject areas. This program will also help prepare students to be better equipped for the PHR/SPHR/GPHR certification exams offered by the HR Certification Institute. Lean Six Sigma: Lean Six Sigma is a business strategy with a set of tools for organizations to improve capability of their processes. Many organizations now apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste within their business processes. Management Accounting: The management accounting emphasis is aligned with the certified management accountant (CMA), which is a globally recognized accounting certification held by professionals in more than 100 countries. This emphasis prepares students to become experts in decision support, planning, data analysis, and critical thinking. CMAs bring the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the era of AI, Blockchain, and other technology advances. Students will gain knowledge and skills needed to advance to strategic roles in accounting and finance such as Chief Financial Officers. Marketing: Recognizing that only the best content stands out in a cluttered marketing world, this program will teach students to leverage the components of digital-marketing, content marketing, and marketing management to navigate modern marketing challenges, grow your skills and knowledge across a broad spectrum of marketing topics, and advance your career as a member of a team, leader of a department, or entrepreneur. These courses prepare students to sit for the Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) exam. Project Management: Project management is a rapidly growing career field that is recognized and relevant in a broad range of disciplines and industries around the world, including government, military, manufacturing, transportation, health care, information technology, and education. Public Accounting: The MBA with a public accounting emphasis prepares students for the professional challenges of becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Diploma will note emphasis in Public Accounting. Completion provides the depth and breadth of knowledge required to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accounting (CPA) examination that will enable students to function productively in a CPA firm. CPA licensing requirements vary by state. It is recommended that students first seek guidance from the appropriate state board of accountancy in your home state before taking coursework. Specialized Study: This emphasis consists of a minimum of 12 credits taken in a specific content area. Coursework may be completed through independent study, current course offerings, or developed for a specific industry or organizational setting. Supply Chain Management: The emphasis in supply chain management prepares students to advance in this exciting and evolving field of management. The emphasis area is designed to provide students with the skills to apply logistics functional expertise from planning of inventory deployment to designing transportation networks. In addition, the framing concepts of cross-functional engagement of Supply Chain Management processes will assist graduates to reinvent their organization from within, and then engage strategic partners to better align processes and mitigate operational risks. Technology Management: For students seeking a career or greater opportunities with a leading technology company or a technology-driven organization, the MBA with an emphasis in technology management will provide them with the knowledge and skills they need. The emphasis is specifically designed to teach students how to: manage technology projects; lead, coach and motivate a technology team; analyze a business process and identify opportunities for technology; and develop a business plan that integrates technology into the business enterprise.
