Certificate in Dental Assisting

Charter College - Vancouver ETPL
The Certificate in Dental Assisting program prepares students to seek entry-level employment in a variety of dental settings. Typical job titles for a graduate entering the field would be chair-side dental assistant, and dental X-ray technician. The content of the program provides students with didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction in chair-side assisting procedures, infection control and treatment procedures commonly performed in a dental office setting. Students will also receive basic training in front office procedures. In addition to attendance in all courses, students will be required to complete out-of-class assignments. These assignments include but are not limited to reading, exercises and problem solving, projects, research, papers, and presentations. A student can anticipate out-of-class activities that equal about two (2) hours for every one (1) hour of lecture. Upon successful completion of the program (seeGraduation Requirements section of the catalog), students could seek or obtain entry-level employment in a dental assisting related field.

Data is unavailable for one of several reasons: In some cases, the institution has not provided the Workforce Board with data to independently evaluate program performance. We encourage all schools to provide this data on an annual basis. In other cases, the program joined Career Bridge recently and student data has not been reported yet. In other cases, the program is too small or too new to provide reliable results.
