Prerequisite courses and other requirements

Minimum qualifications must be clearly stated and applied in a nondiscriminatory manner [WAC 296-05-316(17)]. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be high school graduates or provide proof of equivalent educational attainment such as successful completing of the GED Tests (test of General Education Development). Each applicant shall submit, with the completed application, a high school transcript or high school diploma, or an official report of GED test results. Must be physically fit to perform the duties of the trade. All applicants shall pass an examination designed to test the applicants reading and math skills and aptitude for employment in the elevator industry. A score of 70 percent is the minimum passing score.
