Basic Restorative Services (4 hours): Instruction will cover the fundamental techniques in restorative care, such as mobility aid and activities that promote the patient's return to their best possible functionality. Resident Rights and Independence (4 hours): This section emphasizes the legal and ethical responsibility of respecting patient rights and promoting independence within the scope of the nursing assistant's role. Communication and Interpersonal Skills (4 hours): Students will develop effective communication strategies critical for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Safety and Emergency Procedures (3 hours): Students will learn to identify potential safety hazards and appropriate emergency response procedures. Death: Resident and Family (3 hours): The program will address end-of-life care, providing students with the knowledge to support residents and their families during this sensitive time. Ethical and Legal Considerations (4 hours): This critical component focuses on the ethical and legal framework that guides nursing assistants in their daily interactions and decision-making processes. Care of the Cognitively Impaired (3 hours): Instruction includes strategies for caring for individuals with cognitive impairments, with an emphasis on communication and behavior management. AIDS Education (7 hours): The program offers an in-depth study of AIDS, including its effects, treatment, and the role of the nursing assistant in caring for patients with this condition. CPR and Emergency Situations (4 hours): Students will become skilled at basic life support techniques, including CPR, and learn to respond effectively to various emergency scenarios. The capstone of the program is the Clinical Experience (56 hours), where students apply their learned skills in a real-world healthcare setting, fostering a deeper understanding of patient care and the role of a nursing assistant. Upon completion of the program, students will be well-prepared to enter the healthcare workforce as compassionate, competent, and ethical nursing assistants, ready to make a positive impact on the lives of those they serve.
