This program covers theory of operation and safety requirements, and SMAW electrode selection based on the AWS electrode classification system and includes an introduction to hands-on welding techniques in the shop setting. Covers all-position groove welding and general fabrication using the SMAW process. Covers techniques for passing a standard AWS welder qualification test. Includes trade math, blueprint reading, and layout techniques.
