Medical Coding Specialist

Renton Technical College ETPL
Healthcare these days is a complicated, layered system of specialists, providers and insurance companies. For these layers to work well together, they need to speak the same language. Medical Coding Specialists are the first step in this process, translating information about a patient into standard codes and terms that will be understood by all the different people and organizations involved in healthcare. In this program, students will study medical terminology and standardized codes for diseases and conditions. They will also learn how to use word processing, spreadsheets and computerized patient accounting to enter that information into medical forms and records.
