Surgical Technologist

Renton Technical College ETPL
Surgery is complex and delicate work, done by a team of highly trained experts. Surgical specialists are a key part of that team, helping with important tasks such as tracking supplies and surgical equipment, preparing the operating room, an assisting doctors and nurses during procedures. The Surgical Technologist Program trains students to work as a scrub person, and secondarily as a circulator in a surgery setting. Students also study endoscopy, labor and delivery, and sterile processing. Much of the training occurs in local hospitals. Students must complete a total of 120 surgical cases acting in various roles. They are not paid while completing their clinical rotations.
