Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO)

West Coast Training ETPL

Students will receive supervised, hands-on operation of construction equipment. Students will spend approximately 60% of their training time in the field doing progressively more complex tasks, assignments, and projects that are applicable in the workforce. Actual construction conditions exist to train students in an atmosphere that closely mimics the work environment. Graduates are qualified to operate a variety of equipment in the construction and maintenance fields. In addition, graduates are qualified to perform jobs in site-preparation, set-up, flagging, grade-checking, and can participate in survey crews. Upon completion, the student will be able to check grade on their projects using a hand level and pocket rod, compute grades, slopes, and volume of material in cubic yards. Students attending the Heavy Equipment Operator Course have the opportunity to earn NCCER credentials and documentation of their training accomplishments through the NCCER National Registry.
