The purpose of the course is to instruct and prepare teachers and student teachers in the Montessori Method of Early Childhood and Elementary education.  The course directs itself to the teaching of children 2 1/2-6 yrs of age (ECE) and ages 6-12 (Elementary).  To apply Montessori's philosophy and materials to establish a learning environment in which the educational goals of independence, self respect, self control are fostered by emphasizing emotional and social development, fine motor control, language and appropriate academic skills.
