The Pharmacy Technology program provides both theory and practical training, which enables technicians, upon licensure, to function as competent entry-level assistants to a licensed pharmacist. Students gain basicknowledge of pharmacy calculations, drug distribution systems, chemical and physical characteristics of drugs, and preparation of sterile dosage forms, as well as a thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical and medicalterminology, abbreviations, and symbols used in prescribing, dispensing, and documenting medications. Standards of ethics and law as they pertain to pharmacy practice and drug distribution methods are also included in the curriculum.
Note: Carrington College needs to temporarily offer this 38 credit/37 week model so as to not impact students' financial aid funding.
Carrington College is moving its core academic programs to a five-week instructional cycle. To effect this change in the Pharmacy Technology diploma program, one cohort of students will be scheduled to take one additional credit than the currently approved 36-credit design and another cohort of students will be scheduled for a total of 38 weeks.

The admission process includes an interview with anEnrollment Services Associate. During the interview,the Enrollment Services Associate discusses available programs in relation to the applicant’s career objectives, training needs, and motivations. An interviewwith department faculty may be required in some programs. To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following standard admission requirements: • Applicants must be a graduate of an approved highschool or have earned a General Education Diploma/High School Equivalency credential. • Applicants must pass the Wonderlic SLE with minimum score designated by the selected program (if applicable). ADMISSION REQUIREMENT AND PROCEDURES • Complete all enrollment documentation. • Applicants must be the minimum age defi ned by the state in which they are attending Carrington College. • Applicants attending on campus coursework in thestate of Nevada and Oregon must meet the state immunization requirements. Some programs have additional age or program-specifi c requirements that are found in program overviews. Carrington College reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant and to change entrance requirements without prior notice.

Graduates are eligible and prepared to sit for the national certifi cation exam through either the NationalHealthcare Association (NHA) which administers theEXCPT exam or the Pharmacy Technician Certifi cation Board (PTCB) which administers the CPhT exam.
