This entry-level course continues introducing students to mechanical insulation with a focus on marine, refrigeration, and industrial systems. The course covers basic insulation materials, safety practices, and installation methods, including vapor retarders, insulation coatings, and flexible foam insulation. Students will participate in hands-on labs to learn practical skills such as soft jacketing canvas installation, mud and rag application, and using sealants, along with working with Victaulic fittings. The course also covers the fundamentals of insulation selection, manufacturer standards, soft jacketing techniques. Students will review and practice their insulation skills through various commercial, marine, refrigeration, and industrial applications, including insulation removal. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in basic insulation techniques, preparing them for further training and entry-level roles in the insulation industry.

CITC students are required to have their own a laptop or tablet computer with video, audio, camera, microphone, and wireless network access with them on their fist day of class. It is crucial that students have the required textbooks and class materials by the first day of class. Students will be instructed on how to purchase the required e-text(s) on the first day of class. To purchase the stand alone NCCERConnect with e-text, students will need a Course ID #. Course ID will be provided by the course instructor. CITC Instructor will provide the Course ID no later than the first day of class.Students are expected to purchase the required e-texts during the first day of class.
