Ski Mountaineering and Avalanche Leadership - Part I

American Alpine Institute ETPL
This comprehensive course package is designed for individuals seeking to establish a solid foundation in winter backcountry travel. By combining our Intro to Backcountry Skiing course with AIARE 1 and AIARE Rescue, aspiring backcountry travelers will gain essential movement skills, decision-making tools, and rescue techniques all in one streamlined progression. This combo gives students everything you need to begin exploring avalanche terrain confidently. Ski Mountaineering and Avalanche Leadership - Part I teaches efficient techniques for uphill and downhill travel, gear use, and basic route finding. From there, AIARE 1 introduces avalanche hazard evaluation and terrain management, while AIARE Rescue provides the framework for effective partner rescue.
