Professional Medical Coding
Professional Medical Coding Program designed to prepare students for entry level and advanced professional medical coding positions in healthcare provider offices, hospital outpatient departments, billing companies, and remote coding environments. This program provides comprehensive instruction in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, medical documentation review, ICD 10 CM diagnosis coding, CPT and HCPCS Level II procedure coding, modifier application, compliance guidelines, medical necessity, payer policies, and professional fee revenue cycle operations. Students are trained to accurately analyze provider documentation, apply correct diagnosis and procedure codes, assign appropriate modifiers, and ensure compliance with federal regulations, national coding guidelines, and payer specific requirements. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, ethical coding practices, data integrity, and professional standards. Instruction is delivered through a hybrid online format that includes live instructor led virtual classes, recorded lectures, guided coding practice, interactive case based assignments, independent study, and applied assessments through the learning management system. Program outcomes include development of job ready coding skills, professional documentation analysis, payer rule application, audit awareness, compliance knowledge, and real world professional workflows used in medical coding and billing environments. Successful completion of the program prepares graduates to seek employment in professional medical coding and related revenue cycle positions and to sit for nationally recognized professional medical coding certification examinations if the student independently chooses to pursue certification.
